2020 has been a very different year for the studio and gallery. We have managed to stay open to our visitors but things have been quiet as we have tried to overcome the hurdles that life has thrown at all of us. We were spared the loss of our house and studio as the fires blazed around us and were luckier than neighbours and close friends who lost absolutely everything. As we head towards 2021, we are hoping for new beginnings for everyone and renewed strength for a much brighter future!

The 2018 Basil Sellers Art Prize was again on in Moruya, attracting an acquisitive prize of $20,000. It was open to artists across NSW and the ACT. There was also an additional Eurobodalla prize of $5,000 offered to local artists. It was the first time it was held in the brand new Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre, which is the region's first purpose-built exhibition space, made possible by the generous donations of philanthropist Basil Sellers.

I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of the artists to exhibit one of my works, Wetlands Reflections, in this prestigious event this year and happy to say that it was sold as part of the exhibition.

Covid19 made the River of Art a bit more of a challenge for art lovers wishing to visit the  open studios of local artists this year. There were protocols to be followed and precautions to be taken. Nevertheless, there were around 50 visitors to the studio and 3 paintings found new homes.

Some of our visitors expressed their amazement at the beauty of the area in which the studio is located, not realizing "these places even existed" up here on the ridge behind Malua Bay. It was truly a pleasure to talk to all the lovely people who came. They were not only interested in the works on display and full of questions about each piece, but were keen to learn about the fire that engulfed the area and how the house and the studio were saved. Many of them had their own stories to share about their experiences.
